Man’s head found in knapsack
THE severed head of a man was found in a knapsack Thursday evening while the police were involved in a shooting incident in Effortville, Clarendon. The body was not found.
Constable Camay Watson, the Constabulary Communication Network’s (CCN) liaison officer for Clarendon, told the Observer that the police were called to the scene following a shooting spree that left four people injured.
“At about 8:00 pm Thursday night the police were called to an area called Giron in Effortville after reports of heavily armed men in the area dressed in police denim and army fatigue,” Watson said.
She said two of the injured persons were treated and release from the hospital, while the remaining two have been admitted in stable condition.
According to Watson, while the police were processing the crime scene they came upon the badly beaten head of a man, later identified as 31-year-old George Grant, a labourer from Effortville.
Meantime, the police believe that Thursday’s shooting was linked to a murder which occurred in the same community on Monday when men, also dressed in the same police denim and army fatigue, were seen in the area.
