Alleged ‘serial abuser’ beaten to death in Spanish Town community
VIGILANTE justice was apparently the only solution residents of the Oxford Road community in Spanish Town, St Catherine found to deal with a man whom they claimed was a serial abuser.
According to the police, the body of the man, identified only as “Blacka”, was found early Monday morning with various lacerations, feet bound and a sign hung around the neck that read ‘child abuser inna di community’.
An Observer source said “Blacka”, who was on many occassions heard beating his children and his common-law wife, was warned by disgusted neighbours to stop the practice.
He apparently did not heed the warnings.
It is alleged that the residents on Sunday, heard “Blacka” beating one of his children and decided to intervene.
“A long time him a beat him wife and him pickney dem and the people them just decide to take matters inna them own hands,” the Observer source said. “Talking don’t work wid dem people deh, you just have to get rid of them.”
“Blacka”, it is reported, was tied up and beaten to death by the residents.
The Spanish Town police, up until yesterday, could not give any information as to “Blacka’s” true identity or to say whether any previous complaints were made against him.
“We do not know his identity, all we know is that that the body was found with feet bound, the placard and lacerations,” an officer at the Spanish Town Police Station told the Observer.
