Cop said interrogated in case of missing wife
MONTEGO BAY, St James – The Montego Bay cop whose wife has been missing since Thursday – nine days after they got married – has been taken into custody in connection with the disappearance.
A highly-placed source inside the Jamaica Constabulary Force said that the cop was taken to Kingston on Saturday where he was interrogated by senior detectives.
On Saturday, the Montego Bay police launched a manhunt for Kerry Ann Brown-Campbell, 27, but came up empty-handed.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Les Green, who is now in the second city spearheading the investigations surrounding her disappearance, has since appealed to anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact the police.
The assistant commissioner, who neither confirmed nor denied that the constable was taken into custody, only disclosed that the police were trying to track the last movements of Brown-Campbell.
“We are still trying to follow the last movements of Kerry Ann and still the last [information] we got is her home address. but we are still trying where she was seen after that,” ACP Green told the Observer last night.
Meanwhile, liaison officer for the Constabulary Communication Network in St James, Corporal Camille Tracy, said Brown-Campbell, who got married on July 25, was last seen leaving the marital home Thursday evening.
On Saturday, Corporal Tracy said that Kerry Ann’s husband was assisting with the investigations.
She appealed to anyone with information regarding the wife’s whereabouts to contact ACP Green at the Montego Bay Police Station, the Major Investigation Task Force in Kingston or Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of the St James police division, Mevral Smith at 861-4540.
