JHTA activates hurricane plan
LOCAL hotels yesterday said they are on alert and have activated their Hurricane Preparation & Disaster Management Plans as Hurricane Dean approaches Jamaica.
Yesterday, president of the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association (JHTA), Wayne Cummings, told members “to put all the necessary measures in place to protect life and property and minimise any possible effects of Hurricane Dean on guests and staff”.
The president also asked members to keep their area chairman updated with information on the state of their properties.
“[Chairpersons] have been designated as spokespersons for their areas and will channel information to the media centre being established by the Ministry of Tourism Entertainment & Culture at the Hilton Kingston,” the JHTA said in a release yesterday.
