Labourites celebrate in MoBay

MONTEGO BAY, St James – Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters in Sam Sharpe Square, Montego Bay, yesterday celebrate their party’s electoral victory in Monday’s general elections. Dozens of supporters thronged the historical town square to celebrate their party’s narrow victory over the People’s National Party (PNP), bringing traffic in the city to a crawl for the better part of the afternoon.

The celebrations were expected to continue into last night, and although the police say they were not officially informed of any planned event, they said officers would be on alert to ensure that order was maintained. (Photo: Keril Wright)
