Police think charred remains belong to Constable Raymond Campbell’s wife
Montego bay, St James
The police in St James have found the charred remains of a human body believed to be that of Kerri Ann Brown-Campbell, the missing wife of a police constable.
“We are unable to confirm whether or not the remains are that of Kerri Ann Brown-Campbell, although the circumstances of the find have led the police to believe that it is her body,” said Deputy Police Commissioner, Mark Shields.
The charred remains, believed to be human bones, were reportedly found late last week at a location in St James where a substantial amount of tyres had been burnt. The remains were later recovered and submitted to the Forensic Laboratory for analysis.
Shields theorised that the large fire which, he said, may have burnt for several days, was used to try and destroy the remains of the body and potential evidence.
Brown-Campbell’s husband, Constable Raymond Campbell, who is assigned to the St James Police Division, is currently in police custody where he is being questioned about the disappearance of his wife, who has not been seen since she left the matrimonial home in Rosemount Gardens, Montego Bay on August 2.
The St James police and the Major Investigation Taskforce (MIT) are appealing for information that may assist with the investigation.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact ACP Leslie Green at 967-3377 or DSP Meveral Smith at 861-4540.
Meanwhile, Constable Campbell, who has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and three counts of shooting with intent in connection with a robbery in Amity Hall, St James earlier this year, is to return to the Gun Court in Kingston tomorrow to answer to the charges.
Allegations are that Constable Campbell, who was among a group of men travelling in a stolen motor car on the Amity Hall main road, shortly after a robbery on the night of January 24, 2007, opened fire on the police when they were accosted by the cops.
He was subsequently held and charged.
