Cop battling for life after East Kgn shooting
A special constable who was Saturday night shot and injured by gunmen near his home in East Kingston was yesterday battling for life in hospital.
The policeman, Special Constable Everton Millwood, was shot and injured by armed men while walking along Commission Road, where he resides.
Details surrounding the shooting were not available, but officials from the Special Constabulary Force Association said Millwood was in serious condition.
The shooting is being investigated by officers from the Rockfort Police and the Kingston Central Police Station Criminal Investigations Branch.
Millwood’s shooting preceded that of 37-year-old Constable Richard King of the Kingston Central Police Station, who was gunned down while he and several other officers were on patrol at Fletcher’s Land in Kingston on Sunday morning.
According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), about 2:00 Sunday morning King and the other members of his patrol team went to Orange Street in Fletcher’s Land where a street dance was in progress. Some time afterwards three armed men who were in the area suddenly opened fire on the patrol team and King was hit in the head. He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead, said the CCN.
Also on Saturday, the lifeless body of Jamaica Defence Force Private Jason Young was found in bushes in Guys Hill, St Catherine at approximately 10:30 am.
