Student accused of threatening teacher charged
A grade 11 male student of the Islington High School in St Mary who allegedly brandished a knife and threatened a female teacher at the school this week is to appear in the St Mary Juvenile Court on October 22.
The Islington police confirmed yesterday that the student was charged with assault at common following an incident at the school.
Allegations are that the student brandished a knife and threatened the teacher on Tuesday after she spoke to him about his mode of dress.
A report was later made to the police who charged the boy. He was later released.
Teachers at the school yesterday staged a sit-in to protest against the action of the student.
A meeting of the school’s parent teachers association is scheduled for 11:00 tomorrow morning to address the issue.
