Flood warning partially lifted
THE National Meteorological Service last night lifted the flash flood warning for eastern parishes but advised that low-lying and flood prone areas in central and western parishes were still at risk, at least until 5:00 am today.
A flash flood warning means flooding has either been reported or will occur shortly.
Forecasters said yesterday that the clouds associated with the area of low pressure that has been drenching Jamaica and the western Caribbean for the past week, has been drifting northward, on a path away from the island.
Showers and thunderstorms were, therefore, expected mainly over central and western parishes for at least another day (today).
Yesterday, the island experienced moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms over the central and western parishes. In the east, isolated showers were reported in some parishes.
