Cuban envoy tours NE St Elizabeth today
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth – Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, Gisela Garcia Rivera, will tour sections of North East St Elizabeth today to explore possibilities for assistance and co-operation, according to a news release from Member of Parliament Kern Spencer.
The release said Rivera and Spencer will first visit the old SDC building in Santa Cruz where the MP is proposing to establish a youth training facility with assistance from various sources, including Cuba.
The Cuban ambassador will also visit the Elim Agricultural School as well as the community of Braes River where a vocational centre for adults is being contemplated.
The tour will end at the Appleton Rum Factory following meetings with sugar workers and staff as well as discussions with the local business community.
The release said Spencer will today announce the members of a team that will travel with him to Cuba later this year for a business forum.
