Police seek five for questioning in Unity Lane shootings
THE St Andrew South police yesterday said they were seeking five men said to be “persons of interest” in Tuesday night’s gun attack in which two persons were murdered and seven others injured in Unity Lane in Waterhouse, Kingston.
The men have been identified only as Mack 11, Rex, Stun, Teddy and Nash – all alleged to be affiliated with ‘The Sunshine Gang’ that operates out of the community.
According to Deputy Superintendent, Michael Phipps, the men may “have information that could help in the investigations”.
“We would like these men to come in and answer some questions,” Phipps told the Observer.
Lincoln Moore, 53, and Bernard Williams, 26, were shot and kill and seven others wounded when thugs armed with high-powered weapons and handguns opened fire on a goup of persons along Unity Lane Tuesday night.
The attack has forced the police to step up patrol in the area over fears of reprisals.
“The area is definitely a hot spot. There is a 24-hour police presence in the community and we have increased mobile as well as foot patrols in the area,” Phipps told the Observer.
According to the police, Tuesday’s brazen attack came as a result of an ongoing feud between men from the Sunshine gang and another gang called ‘the Lyrics gang’ from the bottom of Unity Lane.
It is said that men from the Sunshine gang have been fighting for the reins of leadership of Unity Lane for some time.
