National planning summit for MoBay next week
MONTEGO BAY, St James – Prime Minister Bruce Golding will address the opening session of a two-day National Planning Summit set for November 2 to 4 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel here in Montego Bay.
The summit is being presented by the government in conjunction with the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Presented under the theme ‘Jamaica Tomorrow’, the National Planning Summit is expected to bring together a broad coalition of senior government ministers, under the leadership of the prime minister; local and international private sector leaders and non-government organisations (NGOs).
“The parties will be examining a shared national vision for the future, high level plans required to bring the vision to life and the specific initiatives that will ensure the success of the plan,” said a press release from the ministry of information.
The overall objective of the summit, the release added, is to arrive at a broad consensus on the critical initiatives that will drive economic growth and sustainable development for Jamaica.
Other presenters at the summit will include minister without portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, James Robertson; president of the PSOJ Chris Zacca; director general of the Planning Institute of Jamaica, Dr Wesley Hughes; Stuart Hart from the International Development Bank and head of the Office of National Reconstruction, Kingsley Thomas.
