Condolence book opens in Toronto for Herb McKenley
THE Jamaican Consulate General in Toronto, Canada, has opened a condolence book in honour of the late Jamaican sports hero, Herb McKenley, who died on November 26 at the aged of 85.
Jamaicans in Toronto and surrounding areas were invited to visit the consulate between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm and sign the book, which will be opened until Friday, December 7.
Consul General to Toronto, Anne-Marie Bonner, said that the late sports icon was a remarkable Jamaican.
“Herb McKenley was one of our earliest ambassadors,” said Bonner. “He showed the world that Jamaicans are capable of outstanding achievement.”
McKenley, one of Jamaica’s greatest Olympians, will be accorded an official funeral on Saturday, December 8 at the National Arena, with interment at the National Heroes Park.
