Two women gunned down
MONTEGO Bay, St James
Two women, who police say were related to two Montego Bay gang leaders, were brutally gunned down in separate incidents, one of which occurred during slow polling in the Local Government elections yesterday.
The police – who have linked both homicides – theorised that the second killing, of 21-year-old Jenice Gordon, known as Jen, of Bottom Pen in Glendevon, St James, was in retaliation for the early morning gun-slaying of 49-year-old Maurick Davis of a similar address.
According to police reports, Gordon was at home watching television at about 11:30 yesterday morning, when four heavily-armed men kicked open her door and fired several shots.
She reportedly died on the spot.
On the other hand, the first killing took place about 1:45 yesterday morning while Davis was at the ‘Gully’ bus stop located at the intersection of William and St James Streets. The police revealed that two armed men alighted from a Toyota Fielder motor car and fired several shots hitting her all over and killing her instantly. The gunmen then fled the scene.
The police disclosed that Gordon was the sister of Rohan Gordon, alias Don, reputed former Stone Crusher leader who was gunned down by the police earlier this year during an alleged shoot-out. Davis is the mother of a Bottom Pen gang leader.
In the meantime, the Montego Bay CIB are inviting persons who may have information on the shootings to call them at 953-6191.
Gordon’s death has triggered a mass evacuation from the section of the Bottom Pen community where the gruesome killing occurred.
Women and men, fear etched on their faces, were seen scampering with their personal belongings out of the tenement yard where Gordon was slain.
“Move quick and do wha you a do because me hear say the men them a drive round and say them a come back,” one lady urged other members of a family in the yard where Gordon was slain yesterday.
