Insurance scam said at root of body snatchers’ plot
A ghoulish attempt to commit an insurance fraud was unwittingly thwarted by the police in Manchester early Saturday morning when they held seven men who had stolen the body of a man from his grave in the St Jude’s Anglican Church cemetery in Pratville, Manchester a day after it was interred.
Police are now searching for the mastermind of the morbid plot, said to be a former cop who had engaged the services of eight men for a fee of $200,000 each.
According to the police, the exhumed body of Ervin Sinclair was to have been burnt in an elaborate scheme in which an insurance claim would have been made and the money collected by the beneficiary.
