Muschett High student pleads guilty to theft
FALMOUTH, Trelawny – A 16-year-old grade 10 student at the Muschett High School in Trelawny yesterday pleaded guilty in the Falmouth Resident Magistrate’s Court to a charge of simple larceny after admittedly stealing a lap top computer from a teacher at the institution.
However the student’s friend, Devon Ferguson of a Bounty Hall address in the parish- at whose house the computer was reportedly later found- pleaded not guilty to a charge of receiving stolen property.
In court yesterday the RM ordered that a probation report be conducted on the student.
The student and Ferguson are to return to court on June 10, at which time the teenager is expected to be sentenced.
Police said that on April 23, the student reportedly stole a Dell 1525 Inspiron laptop computer valued at $150,000 from a teacher at the Muschett High School.
The matter was reported to the police and the student was reported seen with the computer in the nearby community of Bounty Hall. On May 4, he was apprehended and taken to Ferguson’s house where the computer was recovered.
Both were subsequently charged.
