Gene Pearson’s Artistic Pulse
The Gene Pearson Gallery, scheduled to open today, is the latest addition to the local art scene.
Located at 38 Trafalgar Road inside the Pulse Centre, the gallery features the works of the master sculptor who is famous for his masks and busts. The Gallery will open between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm week days and between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on Saturdays.
The St Catherine-born artist’s work is represented in films such as Trapper John M D, several publications and leading corporate and private collections internationally, including the private collections of celebrities in California and other parts of the USA such as musician Stevie Wonder, actor-cum-governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, actress Diahann Carrol of Dynasty fame, Tyne Daley of Cagney & Lacey, Alice Walker, author of The Colour Purple, among others. Pearson’s work also appears on the Jamaican $1.40 stamp released on April 26, 1993, depicting ‘Jamaica Ceramics’ from the Hardingham Collection. The celebrated artist, was acknowledged for his contribution to the field of the visual arts in 2006 with an Order of Distinction.
