SO, We’re Having A Party!

Style Observer

The word ‘exclusive’ is emblazoned on almost every invitation these days, but only the well-initiated can truly lay claim to having such experiences.

With ‘exclusive’ comes the best of all the elements needed to throw a rockin’ bash… think the perfect venue, where guests enjoy the company of superb hosts and nibble on delectable fare; a fierce DJ aptly spinning the ones and twos inside the impeccably decorated space; expertly-styled chicsters and an alluring atmosphere that makes stepping out seem all the more worth it!

The glitterati on The Rock surely can attest to partying with the likes of celebs like Jay Z, P Diddy and countless others, or living it up at the summer’s hottest ticket and the definitively-exclusive Style Observer Awards, the city-chic Fiction or appreciating the easy cool of Pure. There is, too, the high-energy dance frenzy of Quad, where it’s not unusual to spot the World’s Fastest Man Usain Bolt who, dare we say, could easily earn the top spot on many a guest list this season.

International reggae superstar-cum-philanthropist Shaggy and Sean Paul, who also holds a place in the world’s ‘celeb constellation’, will definitely be among the first to receive that much-coveted ‘invie’.

Surely a guest list that facilitates rubbing shoulders with pop-culture’s big names wouldn’t be complete without dancehall siren Ce’Cile and sweet sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser… expect, too, haute social bystanding from fabulous belles: Ann-Marie Vaz, Tina Matalon and MoBay chicster Cecile Levee, to drop a few names.

The city chicsters and stars love a go on the dance floor, so naturally, the hot tracks ought to be spinning — by the island’s top-tier DJs (heading the list this year, no doubt, is DJ Bambino) — all night and that includes the oldies but goodies, the latest in house music from the likes of Maxwell and John Legend, and pop princesses such as Rihanna, Lady GaGa and Beyoncé. And to take Diddy’s advice: “You play Michael Jackson and people are going to get up and dance — especially Rock With You — or Marvin Gaye’s Here, My Dear or Distant Lover.”

And because dancing till 5:00 am is such hard work, guests need to refuel throughout the night with fare by the island’s choicest caterers, namely, Celeste Gordon, Annakay Lazarus, Lorraine Fung, Sara Mair and Michele and Suzanne Rousseau of Ciao Bella.

Choice fare had, wash it all down with cocktails or pop bubbly. Eschew thoughts of soda; instead, think of the nutty flavour of Champagne – preferably Laurent Perrier, Möet & Chandon or Krug. Of course, nothing beats a rum-laced drink and the Appleton Estate line continues to endure as a party favourite.

And in this space — where drink flows freely, fabulous food is never in short supply and dancing the night away is the only requirement — memories are made, friendships formed and bonds strengthened… happy partying!
