St James D-1 KO to heed ref’s whistle
MONTEGO BAY, St James — The way has been cleared for the start of the St James Football Association’s Steve Bucknor Knockout for Division One teams today after the FA and the St James Referees Group came to an agreement late last week.
The start of the league was held up because the FA still owes the referees over $600,000 from last season, but an agreement has been worked out to ensure the start of the competition that will see 11 teams taking part in preparation for the start of the Division One next year.
In the first game today, Copperwood and Westgreen FC will meet in a play-off at Albion, starting at 3:00 pm.
The league continues all week with games. Tomorrow, Montego Bay Boys Club and Upsetters will meet at Albion, while on Wednesday at the same venue it will be Rose Mount against Seaview.
Action switches to the UDC field on Thursday with Defenders against Marl Road, on Friday it will be the winner of today’s game against Juniors while on Saturday, Little Miami will meet Reggae Youths.
