Police blotters: Doctor found dead at home
THE Savanna-La-Mar Police in Westmoreland are investigating the death of a 55-year-old medical doctor whose body was found at his home at Big Bridge district in the parish last night. Dead is Dan-Levy Hibbert Senior.
Police said about 9:55 pm, a family member went to visit Hibbert and found his body, with several wounds, on the floor of his bedroom. Investigators are awaiting the result of the post mortem to determine the cause of death.
Teen arrested with illegal firearm at Caymanas Track
A 16-year-old youth was arrested and placed into custody after he was found in possession of an illegal firearm at Caymanas Track, Caymanas Park, Portmore, St Catherine yesterday.
About 4:40 pm, police observed the teen acting suspiciously. When searched, a Bryco .380 semi automatic pistol – serial number 1479236 – containing three .380 cartridges was found in his waistband. The Portmore Police are investigating.
Fire destroys house in Westmoreland
THE Negril Police are investigating a fire of unknown origin, which destroyed a four-bedroom house at Retirement district, Negril, Westmoreland. No one was injured in the blaze.
Police said about 2:15 am, an occupant discovered that the house was on fire and summoned the police and fire brigade. Negril Fire Department extinguished the blaze. Damage to the uninsured house is estimated at $1.5 million.
Police seek Witness
THE Four Paths Police in Clarendon are asking for public assistance to locate Andrea Reid, a material witness in a case before the Clarendon Circuit Court.
Reid’s last known address was Savannah district in the parish. She is needed for the next court sitting which resumes on Thursday, January 14. She or anyone knowing her whereabouts is being asked to contact Corporal Lenroy Thompson at 987-0489 or the nearest police station.
