Cocktails With – Dale ‘Mia Jae’ Warmington
If her star is as bright as her hazel eyes, then singer Dale ‘Mia Jae’ Warmington is well on her way to becoming The Rock’s latest musical find. She’s sitting pretty, at Truck stop to be exact, stroking her tresses, batting her lashes and sharing how she intends to make 2010 her best year yet.
What are you sipping tonight?
I usually don’t drink, save for a glass of white wine or three.
What is it about Truck stop that keeps you coming?
I like the alfresco setting, and the jerk here is good too.
Socialite or homebody?
Definitely a homebody, I love being at home.
Flats or stilettos?
Flats during the day when I’m running errands, but stilettos when I go out. I’ll sacrifice comfort to look hot.
Who or what inspires you?
My peers inspire me, definitely! The ladies in this business like Alaine and Tifa, among others; they represent the young set who are doing it big, I want to be a part of that.
Who does your hair?
My sister Rebecca, we do it at home because I like the comfort. I have another hairdresser, Sophie, who also works from home.
Who does your nails?
Althea, she does house calls.
What’s your style?
It depends on the day. I love looking sexy. I’ll throw on a pair of sweats and later slip into a short dress.
What perfume are you spraying?
I use a scented oil called Escape, it lasts all day and it’s delicious. I also use Ed Hardy.
You don’t carry a clutch whenever you go out for drinks; what items do you always have on your person?
My BlackBerry, my car keys and lipgloss.
What’s your essential style item?
Black eyeliner and/or mascara; my eyes are light, so they make ’em pop.
What’s your idea of the perfect date?
Anywhere that’s comfortable and as long as the person is making me laugh.
What’s your idea of the perfect man?
I’m very picky, it’s a really long list, but for starters I love a man who can make me laugh.
What’s your latest obsession?
My hair… I’m always doing something new to it. I was recently blonde and I just cut bangs.
What’s in your car stereo?
I’m a huge dancehall fan, especially of Vybz Kartel, and occasionally I throw in a little Rihanna, Alaine and Beyoncé.
What’s the best thing about being a recording artiste?
Doing what I love and being able to express my emotions through music.
What projects are you currently working on?
My single Reason for Breathing, produced by Liquid and Russian. And I’m also working on other singles.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
“Do not underestimate the power of hard work” and “Be yourself”.
And 10 years from now?
Hopefully, I’ll have a best-selling album and be successful and happy with whatever it is I’m doing.
