Singer Alicia Keys is believed to have entered into a secret engagement to boyfriend Swizz Beatz. The Fallin’ star is dating 31-year-old hip-hop producer Beatz, real name Kasseem Dean, who is currently going through a divorce with wife Mashonda.

Keys recently turned 29 and is said to have been presented by him with a seven-carat ring just before her birthday. Keys and Beatz were spotted walking along a beach in Hawaii around the date of his alleged proposal.

A spokesman for Keys denied the report but a friend told Us Magazine: “They are currently in Hawaii celebrating the engagement and her birthday. She feels blessed.” The friend added: “She is thrilled. She is with the man who has inspired so much of her music and her new album.”

As well as celebrating her engagement, Keys is on course to secure her highest position on the UK album charts with her new album. The Element Of Freedom peaked at number seven after its December release. — Daily Mail

No one could possibly blame Rihanna for pulling out of last year’s Grammys show hours before it was filmed.

The Barbadian beauty had been beaten black and blue by thenboyfriend Chris Brown, who was later sentenced to five years of probation and a year of domestic violence counselling after admitting assault.

But Rihanna has not been asked to perform at this year’s ceremony, saying she thinks bosses are ‘mad’ at her for letting them down. “We messed up the show pretty bad last year, so they’re probably a little mad at me right now,” she said. — Daily Mail

Brittany Murphy’s husband blames movie chiefs for her death

Hollywood chiefs have hit back at the husband of actress Brittany Murphy after he claimed they were to blame for her death. British screenwriter Simon Monjack said movie executives were responsible for the 32-year-old’s sudden death and is filing a wrongful death lawsuit.

He said the Warner Brothers studio brought on a fatal heart attack when they fired her from a sequel to the animated hit Happy Feet.

But a spokesman for Warner Brothers labelled Monjack’s claims ‘reprehensible’ and denied they had even signed a contract with the Eight Mile star.
