My Kingston – Leon
Leon – Actor and Singer
What are your earliest memories of Kingston?
The pretty uptown gals, who acted like they didn’t want to talk to me.
What do you miss when you are not in Kingston?
The pretty uptown gals, who now talk to me.
What are your favourite home comforts?
I’m a simple man when it comes to comforts. My suede California kingsize bed and my washer and dryer, because I hate dirty clothes.
What would you do if you were mayor (of Kingston) for a day?
Wow, I don’t think you can accomplish much in one day but I would try to clean up as many impoverished areas I can in my 24 hours in office.
People feel better about themselves when where they live looks clean.

That’s a good question because, unfortunately, I’m always reading movie and TV scripts when I would prefer to read a good book.
I just re-read Sly and The Family Stone: An Oral History by Joel Selvin but that’s because I optioned it as a producer to make the movie.
What is your middle name?
Preston.
And the last bit of music that stirred your soul?
Beres Hammond singing ‘new ideas’ in his studio with me. My reggae soul was stirred!

Some new tennis gear; I love tennis! It’s the new basketball.
Which cologne are you currently splashing?
Gendarme is the only cologne I would ever be splashing.
What is your preferred beverage?
Hmmm…non-alcoholic: ginger ale with a splash of grapefruit or mango and soursop juice mixed (try it Cocktail-wise, a Patron margarita, straight up in a martini glass. It’s a sexy drink, not that I would know much about that but I’m trying to learn.
What was your most memorable meal in Kingston?
There are way too many to choose, but looking forward to that one that I can’t forget.
What are your current projects?
Writing and recording new music for my band developing a private investigator on one-hour drama for TV, getting Sly Stone movie made and shooting the third season of Robert Townsend’s award-winning web series Diary of a Single Mom on www.PIC.tv
What upsets you?
I try not to get upset, but ignorance and lack of common sense make it hard not to.
Name the last three places visited on holidays.
Rome, Anguilla and Capetown.
Share some places in your black book?
Don’t have a black book! I’ve gone green. Everything is electronic now. Save the trees!

Avoid Old Hope Road during rush hour!
What is your philosophy?
I have two: Love & Let Live; and Live your life, don’t let your life live you.
