JPS enlightens OUR on loadshedding, but leaves public in the dark
The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) on Monday submitted a detailed report on recent load shedding activities, which caused disruptions in the electricity supply to customers islandwide.
The JPS was required to provide the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) with information on the daily/hourly load projection for February, the available capacity, the reserve capacity, plant constraints, plant maintenance schedule as well as any transmission or network constraints.
The regulator received the report at the close of business on Monday, February 08, 2010.
“A detailed analysis of the contents of the report will now be undertaken to determine if any corrective measures and/or other procedures need to be implemented to prevent a recurrence of the outages,” said the OUR release issued yesterday.
OUR spokesman Michael Bryce told the Business Observer that details of the report would not be made public while the regulator decides on the appropriate actions to be taken.
