Reggae Month reflects on Natasja Saad through documentary
THE Jamaica Reggae Industry Association continues to celebrate Reggae Month under the theme To Di Root. One of the signature events for 2010 will be the viewing of a special documentary The Story of Natasja Saad today at 9:00 am at the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre in the faculty of Humanities and Education, UWI, Mona.
Natasja Saad was the half- Danish and half-Sudanese reggae artiste who was killed in a car accident in Jamaica. She was the first non-Jamaican reggae/dancehall artiste to win the Irie FM Big Break Contest in 2006 with her song 45 questions.
Natasja’s big break came after opening at a concert for Macka B, Arriwa Posse and Mad Professor. She proved her genius and worth to the music world when in the early nineties she helped introduce raggamuffin to the Danish hip hop community.
