Thank you
Dear Editor,
I wish to thank all those who helped present the Reggae Film Festival 2010. I must first express my overwhelming thanks to the Hilton Kingston Hotel and its senior staff: Frank Roshuvel, manager; Dave Hines, public relations officer; Claudette Kinlock, sales director; and Sophia Butler, Reservations, for joining with us in the vision and potential of the film festival, and facilitating us in every way to make it happen. No thanks can be enough for the help of these persons, and indeed, the entire staff of the Hilton Kingston Hotel who made our event so memorable.
Our event was additionally blessed by help from the following sponsors: Phase 3 Productions, IRIE-FM Radio, TruJuice/Pepsi, CopyCat, National Continental Foods, Mothers Patties, Anubis Communications and The Cove Restaurant. These friends covered our additional needs.
Special thanks also must go to all our media colleagues and friends who helped by making their columns, programmes and screens available to share details of our event. Special mention must be made of Irie-FM, Chat! newspaper, Beverly Manley of Hot 102, TVJ- Smile Jamaica, CVM, Judith Alberga of PBCJ, Sadeke Brooks of The Gleaner, Basil Walters and Yasmin Peru of the Jamaica Observer, Andrine Davidson of the Sunday Herald, Sis Isis Miller of Roots-FM and Johan Dawes of Hype-TV.
Most especially, I wish to thank publicly all those who gave advice freely and shared the work of planning leading up to the event, of whom there were several, but thanking especially those who stayed the course to the end. These include Dr Michael Barnett, UWI professor and co-ordinator of the Film Festival Seminar; show producer Mikey Barnett as technical adviser; attorney-at-law Stokely Marshall who chaired the judging sub-committee; Lesley Ann Welsh, producer of the Children’s Programme; and the team including film-maker Allan “Endless” Tennant; Dax, Zina and my family members who were the back-up for all the work done.
On behalf of all the young Jamaican film-makers whose work was exposed, I give my thanks for all the blessings received from all those who helped make the film festival the success it was.
