Western Confed teams battle against drop
MONTEGO BAY, St James — The battle against relegation is expected to heat up as the Captain’s Bakery Western Confederation Super League draws to a close, with up to six teams still in danger of dropping out.
With six rounds to be played, only four of the 12 clubs have any realistic chance of winning the title, while at least six clubs, including Wadadah FC, winners o the last two titles, are battling to avoid relegation.
Wadadah and Violet Kickers are tied on nine points each in 10th position, while Prosper of Hanover are last on five points and seem likely relegation candidates.
At the other end of the table, Reno FC lead with 44 points and are favourites for the title, while Seba United are second, three points adrift.
Today, Seba could return to the top with a win over Mt Pelier in their return-round game at Jarrett Park at 5:30 pm.
With Reno having their game against last-placed Prosper rescheduled to Tuesday, Seba could take the lead if they beat Mt Pelier by at least five goals.
Mt Pelier, who have no hopes of winning the title and are in seventh place on 17 points, held Seba goalless in the first round and will be seeking to get at least a point.
