AUGUST Town’s woes continued while the tide turned for the better for Boys’ Town who registered their first victory in six outings in the Digicel Premier League with a 1-0 win at Collie Smith Drive yesterday.

It was a bitter-sweet win for the Red Brigade who were reduced to ten men in the 89th minute after Shawn McKoy was sent off for a second offence.

McKoy’s sending off came only 15 minutes after substitute Dean Thompson, who came on in the 57th minute, scored the all-important goal in the 64th to give Boys’ Town their second win since the start of the third round.

Thompson’s goal injected new life into what was a drab affair prior.

Strong gusts of wind cooled the blazing afternoon sun, but both teams were challenged to keep pace with a ball that didn’t always do what it was told which affected goalmouth activities.

Boys’ Town technical director, Andrew Price, was okay with the win though it didn’t come under the best of conditions.

“It’s always good to win; it wasn’t the prettiest of games, we played a lot better in the second half as we always do, but our team has to learn to play good aggressive football for 90 minutes… we did enough to gain the three points and that was our objective,” he said.

Coach of August Town, Dwight Morgan, said: “We just have to keep on playing and keep on fighting.”
