Four arrested for kidnapping of Clarendon 16-y-o girl
DETECTIVES from the Organised Crime Investigation Division have arrested four persons in connection with the kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl from Hayes, Clarendon which occurred on February 10 this year.
Those arrested and charged are:
1. Rupert Orr otherwise called ‘Randy’, an unemployed 32 year-old man of Turner district, Clarendon. He is charged with kidnapping, extortion and conspiracy.
2. Trives Chalton otherwise called ‘Coolie’ and ‘Flex’, unemployed, 22, of Duke Street, May Pen and Lionel Town, Clarendon. He has been charged with kidnapping, extortion and conspiracy. He and Orr were charged on Saturday 20 March 20, 2010 and appeared in court yesterday. The case was postponed to April 12.
3. Ramona Baldy, a secretary, 22, of Turners district, Clarendon is charged with conspiracy to kidnap, extortion and receiving stolen property. Baldy appeared before the May Pen Resident Magistrate Court and was offered bail in the sum of $300,000 with a surety to re-appear on April 12.
4. The fourth person is in custody and the name has been withheld pending further investigation and an identification parade.
The police are still seeking two other persons:
1. Barrington Williams otherwise called ‘Ziggy’, farmer of Turners district, Clarendon.
2. Cami Stanley of Duke Street, May Pen, Clarendon.
Attempts by the police to nab the suspected kidnappers in mid-February resulted in two policemen – a sergeant and a corporal assigned to OCID – being shot and injured by their colleagues in Clarendon in a case of friendly fire.
The policemen were on the lookout for the kidnappers on the Bustamante Highway, in the vicinity of Glenmuir Road, when they were set upon and shot by policemen from Clarendon.
The Clarendon cops, the police reported, did not realise that they were firing on their colleagues, and only stopped when the sergeant and corporal identified themselves.
