Juici Patties Mega Gospel Awards Sunday
Juici Patties and Megajamz98fm will be hosting its third Juici Patties Mega Gospel Awards on Sunday from 8:00 am to 12 noon. The awards are not yet open to the public, but can be heard on the station.
According to the organisers, the event, which is highly anticipated by local gospel artistes, has this year received the support of some new sponsors. This year’s sponsors include Juici Patties, Seprod, Courts Jamaica Limited, Fimi Wireless, AUX Air Conditioners and Fruit Jazz Fruit Drink.
The on-air radio awards ceremony was born out of a need to identify, recognise and hone upcoming artistes in the local gospel music industry. It is the brainchild of Kevin Lewis, host of MegaJamz’s Gospel Jamz. The awards ceremony is dedicated the late Duane ‘Stone’ McKenzie who spearheaded last year’s awards and who was working passionately to make this award a “MegaSized” one.
The Juici Patties Mega Gospel Awards show provides a platform for talent to be recognised, while engaging the station’s audience, making them part of the process. Since its official launch in March 2007, the Mega Gospel Awards show has recognised more than 200 ministers/artistes, many of whom would not have been exposed outside of this avenue. The nominees are usually selected based on MegaJamz 98fm rotation, and the winners selected from a tally of votes received online and by text
Last year’s winners included DJ Nicholas — Gospel DJ of the Year; Danny Browne — Producer of the Year; Katalys Crew — Song of the Year; Prodigal Son — Stage Performer of the Year; Jason Mighty — Male Vocalist of the Year and Teena Tamara — Best Dressed Female.
The hosts for the Juici Patties Mega Gospel Awards 2010 are Kevin Lewis (Gospel Jamz), Sean Downer (More Glory) and Camille Buchanan.
