In the heart of Clarendon lies a school whose students and teachers display a never-say-die attitude. The power outage that occurred shortly after the festivities commenced only served to intensify the energy at the Edwin Allen High School. TEENage hosted the TEENage Expressions Tour at Edwin Allen for the second time and not only got first-hand knowledge of the students’ athletic brilliance, but also a taste of their talent and creativity.

The first piece was a gospel song by The Angelics. The song spoke of the Lamb of God and the grace of the Almighty. Though this was not well received by the audience at the start, a brief solo from each member of the group was applauded.

Following this was a display of dance talent from the Edwin Allen Dance Group. A medley of a few Michael Jackson hits and dancehall songs drove the crowd into a frenzy as they all joined in to watch and cheer on their fellow schoolmates. It seemed that the Edwin Allen students were thrilled to bits by the latest dance moves as nearly all of the school population joined in the fun.

For the first time on the TEENage Observer Expression Tour there was a power outage. After only the third performance electricity went, but in true Jamaican spirit the party continued, with ‘Legend Stereo’ (a car stereo system) providing the crowd with more than enough vibe as the day progressed. With musical accompaniment and the vibe of the student population and TEENage team, backed by the ‘Legend’, the show provided lots of entertainment as well as new activities.

One of the new activities was a Football Juggling Contest whereby three girls were chosen, but it was Serika Rowe of Class 11-Four who won the contest following an overwhelming response from the audience. Yanique Mitchelle of Class 11-Six showed off her dancing skills to the audience with some of the latest dance moves. Iajeen Grant of Class 11-Eight was one of the lucky students who correctly answered a question based on an article in the TEENage Observer.

One of the two guest performers, deejay Mixing Lab, unfortunately could not perform due to the electricity problem, however, Christopher Byfield, the guest dancer, came on stage and wowed the audience with his creative dance moves.
