More fun, more fete at Smirnoff Beach J’ouvert
The lovers of Carnival will once again get an opportunity to experience, more fun, more fete and lots of bacchanal at this year’s staging of Smirnoff Beach J’ouvert Island Treasures.
This fun-filled event slated for Saturday April 3 will be held at the James Bond Beach, Oracabessa, St Mary.
“Slated to headline this euphoric event filled with great music, dancing and tons of paint are husband-and-wife soca crooners Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons, who have each in their own right attained mega success in the soca market,” says director of Bacchanal Jamaica Michael Ammar.
Ammar was speaking at the Smirnoff Beach J’ouvert media launch held at the Knutsford Court Hotel on Tuesday.
Both Garlin and Lyons will be backed by their international soca band, Asylum. To add to the party vibe is local dancer and recording artiste Ding Dong, known for his scorching Holiday hit. Music will be provided by Miami DJ Private Ryan, DJ Smoke of Renaissance, DJ Omarof Sparkles Production and another surprise guest DJ.
Also speaking at the launch was Dianne Ashton Smith, corporate communications manager at Red Stripe, who said that the brand would be adding its own unique flavour to the annual carnival event.
“We will have special Smirnoff cocktails and all three tasty flavours at the event. Smirnoff J’ouvert will provide the perfect opportunity to excite consumers with new, spontaneous and fun-filled experiences,” Ashton Smith said.
“The mixes will entice the palate and are easy to replicate at home. ‘Smirnoff Reveller’ the featured cocktail for beach J’ouvert, is simple and perfect for the beach — Smirnoff 21 with Smirnoff Green and cocktail syrup with a twist of lime, served with crushed ice,” she explained.
Another in the series of Bacchanal parties will be held at Mas Camp this Friday featuring the sexy and energetic Destra Garcia. There will also be Soca at the Sandbar, a free beach party which will take place at Lime Cay next Wednesday. Bringing the Carnival event to a climax will be the road March on Sunday April 11.
Taking the economic climate into consideration, tickets prices for the Beach J’ouvert have remained the same to encourage revellers to come out and enjoy themselves. Tickets are available at Mas Camp, General Foods in Ocho Rios, LG Brown Gas Station and Ammar’s store islandwide.
Major sponsors of Bacchanal 2010 are Ammar’s, Smirnoff, Jamaica Observer, TVJ and the RJR Communications Group, Sparkles Productions, Heineken, Kingston Party Ice, Wata, Digicel among others.
