Spartan drub Turners in FX Trader Div One to go atop Zone Two
CHAPELTON, Clarendon — A first half brace from Jerome Willis piloted Spartan FC to a 4-0 drubbing of Turners FC and the lead atop Zone Two of the FX Trader/Clarendon Football Association Division One last Thursday at Clarendon College.
Willis netted in the fifth and 42nd minutes, while former Clarendon College player Davian Williams (37th) and Christopher Bryan (44th) also scored for Spartan, who now lead the zone on six points — the same as Rio United, but with a better goal difference.
Spartan drew their first match 1-1 with Bailey and Bailey’s, but were later awarded full points after the Competitions Committee ruled that Bailey’s used an ineligible player in that game.
In another Zone Two game last Thursday, Rio United edged Rock River 2-1 at the Turners Oval to draw level on points with Spartan.
At Portland Cottage, Comfort also registered their second win of the campaign — a 4-1 beating of Portland Cottage to join Cockpit and Springfield atop Zone One with six points.
The competition was scheduled to continue on Saturday with a double header in Zone Three at the Four Paths Community Centre and two other games in Zone Four on between Saturday and Sunday.
