Trinidad’s Sharon Cole for Caribbean Fashionweek
Trinidad designer and stylist Sharon Cole is confirmed to present her line, Shaco, at Caribbean Fashionweek (CFW) this June 8-14 in Kingston, Jamaica.
A graduate of the School of Design in Boston, Massachusetts, Cole has over 20 years experience in the business of fashion. After completing her formal studies in the late 80’s, she returned to Trinidad and immediately began working with a few local boutiques and outlets as a stylist and designer. Her remarkable versatility and flair for the unusual caught the attention of T&T’s fashion forward set, thus earning her a steady clientele.
With growing success, Cole made the move in 2004 to expand style operations and opened her boutique, Shaco Fashion Design, in Rhode Island. Following the launch, she was invited to showcase her line at Boston Fashion Week, alongside prestigious style stars Geoffrey B Small and Alfred Fiandaca. She was heralded by the Boston Globe newpaper, The Tourism Board of Rhode Island and the Mayor of Rhode Island’s office for her contribution to the creative industry in the city.
Now headed to Jamaica for the first time to participate in the Caribbean Fashionweek collections, Cole will present Caribbean Queen, a showcase inspired by and dedicated to the quintessential island ‘daughta’.
“My collection explores a plethora of colour, textures and cuts and boasts an inspired coordination of international pizzazz that is still predominantly Caribbean. The line includes daywear items, skirt suits, pants suits and additional tailored items accessorized with scarves and handbags.”
CFW is produced by Pulse Investments Limited, a 30-year-old pioneering model and entertainment company. In addition to the surplus of models, stylists and celebrities to be present at CFW, the event this year also heralds the 10th anniversary of the signature lifestyle and fashion event as well as welcomes the launch of the Haiti Art and Fashion Project, an initiative to support the rehabilitation and further development of Haitiís creative arts, fashion and business industries.
