Bolt runs lightning fast anchor leg to lead team Jamaica to victory at Penns
DOUBLE sprint record holder Usain Bolt clocked 8.79 seconds on anchor to lead Jamaica’s Yellow team to victory in the USA versus the World 4x100m on today’s final day of the 116th Penn Relays at the Franklyn Field Stadium in Philadelphia.
The team, which was completed by Bolt’s Racers Track Club training partners Mario Forsythe, Yohan Blake and Marvin Anderson crossed the finish line in a world leading 37.90 seconds.
The USA Blue team of Walter Dix, Mike Rodgers, Shawn Crawford and Ivory Williams finished second in 38.33, while Jamaica’s Black team Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Xavier Brown and Dwight Thomas placed fourth in 38.72.
The women’s equivalent went to the American Blue team of Lisa Barber, Allyson Felix, Mikele Barber and Carmelita Jeter in 42.74, followd by Jamaica’s quartet of Simone Facey, Kerron Stewart, Sherone Simpson, Shelly-Ann Fraser who clocked 42.94.
Meanwhile, national 800m record holder Kenia Sinclair clocked 1 minute 57.48secs on anchor to lead Jamaica to victory in the women’s sprint medley in 3 minutes 35.37secs. The other members of the team were Schillonie Calvert, Kerron Stewart and Melaine Walker. The USA Blue team of Natasha Hastings, Dee Dee Trotter, Sheena Tosta and Alysia Johnson had to settle for second in 3 minute 38.53.
The Americans had the last laugh winning the 4×400 for women and men in 3 minutes 26.12 and 3 minutes 00.60 respectively.
