The fourth annual staging of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Junior Table Tennis Tournament — for individual singles events — takes place today in the UTech Auditorium.

As usual, boys and girls will compete in four age-group categories, namely Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19.

The action serves off at 9:00 am with the playing of the Under-13 events, followed by Under-15 starting at 10:30 am, Under-17 at 12:00 noon and Under-19 at 1:30 pm.

Former and present national representatives — juniors (Under-18), cadets (Under-15) and pre-cadets (Under-13) — are the top seeds in each category. Michael Cai of Wolmer’s Boys’ and national champion Yvonne Foster of Meadowbrook are the top seeds in the Under-19; and Kareem Flowers of Wolmer’s Boys’ and Kristen McKenzie of Campion the top seeds in Under-17.

Rij Findlay of Rural Under-19 champions Belair Academy and Ashli Alexander of national Under-16 champions Campion are the top seeds in the Under-15, with Derek Walcott and Janique Lee, both members of Campion’s Under-16 teams, the top seeds in the Under-13.

There are also male and female teachers singles events and play in these will begin at 3:00 pm.
