Jamaican duo loses doubles
JAMAICA drew blank at the BWF Bimantara Cups World Junior Badminton Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico on Thursday.
Dennis Coke and Anthony McNee lost their doubles and singles matches after two days of the five-day competition.
Coke and McNee lasted only 15 minutes in the doubles match against the seeded Indian duo of Sai Praneet B and Pranav Chopra. The Indians, seeded five to eighth at the competition, won 21-13, 21-5 after the Jamaicans got a first-round bye.
In the singles Wednesday, Canadian Nyl Yakura took 20 minutes to dispose of McNee 21-12, 21-16 in the preliminary round, while Malaysian Wei Sheng Loh, the number two seed in the singles, brushed aside Coke 21-10, 21-11 in a 20-minute encounter.
The next international tournament is the 19th Pan American Junior Championships from August 5-11 in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, a week before the start of the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.
