Laughter reigns on The Anchor
WHEN CVM television commissioned The Anchor, it was not expected to be a comedy but rather a reality show designed to unearth the next big television anchor. The talent might be thin at times but the comedy is thick in the two audition shows that have already been seen on CVM TV.
Eager contestants journeyed to Kingston from across Jamaica to demonstrate their ability to read a few simple words in less than 30 seconds. Little did they know that simple words can create a minefield for those whose articulation and comprehension of the English language is a lot harder than meets the eye.
The preliminary audition exercise has run its course and in the next episode only 20 persons will be selected from a bunch of 25 hopefuls. The television viewers have started making bets on who will make the cut but the list remains closely guarded by the show’s producers.
At the end of the 13 episodes, one person will walk away with $500,000 and a television contract from CVM TV. The finalists will soon find out that it is not an easy road to the winner’s podium. The programme is broadcast on Monday nights at 9:00 pm with an encore on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm.
