Monymusk tackle Downs in South Central U-20 semis
DOWNS, Manchester — Defending champions Monymusk FC go in search of their second consecutive berth in the final of the South Central Confederation Under-20 football competition when they tackle Manchester’s Downs FC in the semi-final at the Downs Community Centre today at 3:00 pm.
In the other semi-final, debutants Meadows FC will go up against Tru-Juice in an all-St Catherine affair at the Spanish Town Prison Oval on Sunday, starting at 1:00 pm.
Downs qualified for the round of four as winners of Group A on 10 points — one ahead of Tru-Juice, who only book their spot on goal difference as they were tied on points with Wood Hall.
Meadows took Group B with eight points, two ahead of Monymusk, who is the only team to finish the preliminary round unbeaten.
Both semi-finals should provide much excitement as both Downs and Tru-Juice, who are the winningest and the highest scoring teams in the competition with three wins apiece from their five games, will meet the teams with the best defensive records.
Tomorrow, Meadows could be a bit under strength when they play Tru-Juice, as a number of their players are expected to be rested for their Super League semi-final against the same opponent at 3:00 pm.
