Waterhouse strike for charity
Waterhouse FC returned to Jamaica on Monday from a one-match tour of the Bahamas where they defeated a Miami-based Haitian All-Star football team 1-0 in a charity game at the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre in Nassau on Sunday.
Before a large crowd that braved pounding rain, midfielder Vincent Earle scored from a 30-yard free kick in the 75th minute in a fundraiser for victims of earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
The match was organised by the Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas, in conjunction with the United Association of Haitians in the Bahamas.
Waterhouse coach Geoffrey Maxwell said the “trip was an education for all (and) this is especially so for the players who have not played internationally before”.
According to Maxwell, the standouts in the match were Vincent Earle, Desmond Breakenridge, Kemar Thomas and Theo Brown.
