What are your earliest memories of Kingston?

Going with my family to Rockfort Mineral Bath or to Harbour View Drive-In. But my fondest memories are having my grandmother’s fantastic dinners (stew peas being my favourite) after school at her home in Vineyard Town.

What do you miss when you are not in Kingston?

I miss my family most whenever I travel without them. Otherwise it’s the vibe of Kingston, which is distinct and unique, and the feeling of knowing that family and friends are never too far away.

What are your favourite home comforts?

The TV and remote control, of course! And the garden swing outside on the lawn. It seats two perfectly . . .

What would you do if you were mayor (of Kingston) for a day?

I’m an avid ScotiaVolunteer based downtown, so I’m exposed to the great need that exists in the city. This has spurred me on — more each day — to try to make a difference. So as mayor for a day I would love to:

* Start an initiative to raise funds to expand the capacity of homeless shelters to help those who live on the street.

* Launch a “Clean Up Kingston” campaign, imposing heavy fines for littering and other unsanitary practices.

* Raise funds for Old Age Homes and organise regular visits to remind our elderly that they’re not forgotten but still loved and thought of.

Right now, I’ll say a prayer for Mayor Desmond McKenzie and ask God to give him strength to undertake this challenging job.

I’ve just started Our Iceberg is Melting by John Kotter. Just before that, I was reading Bill Waterson’s The Complete Calvin & Hobbes volumes 1-3 — classic!

Patrick Saint Aubyn.

And the last bit of music that stirred your soul?

Mark Willis’ That’s a Woman. Such a wonderful song! But my all-time favourite is You Were There by Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.

What was your last bit of retail therapy?

I’m not really a big shopper as I find it stressful sometimes. But it did feel really good recently buying a pair of new Converse Chuck Taylor shoes … I love comfortable casual shoes!

Which cologne are you currently splashing?

Polo Double Black.

What is your preferred beverage?

I love a nice, cool, refreshing Wisynco Ocean Spray Cranberry Wata!

What upsets you?

I am a team player. So I am disappointed most when people I’m relying on put out less than 100 per cent.

Working with Scotiabank Volunteers and Food for the Poor to build a basic school for about 50 of the most adorable children in New Ground, Clarendon, recently. That was so fulfilling!

I am also working on a couple of exciting deals with some of Scotiabank’s corporate clients. I would really love to tell you more, but as you know banker/client relationships are strictly confidential!

Name your favourite ‘chill’ spots in Jamaica.

I love Portland and its natural beauty. The Marina and Frenchman’s Cove are two of the most relaxing spots there. Other than that, it’s home sweet home.

What’s your advice to a first-time visitor to Kingston?

Be fearless and enjoy it! Kingston is the most fun spot on the island with a diverse culture. Be sure to check out a play in one of Kingston’s theatres. Pick up some pan chicken on Red Hills Road. Visit the National Gallery downtown. Admire its history as represented by its architecture — like Scotiabank’s remarkable King Street Branch. And run a few laps at Emancipation Park.
