Schroeter honoured to be among ‘Bigga 12’
ON Saturday at Caymanas Park, 12 ladies were honoured for the outstanding services given to their various fields by Wisynco Group Limited through its flagship brand Bigga. Among them was Sharon Schroeter producer of the popular talent series, Digicel Rising Stars .
According to Schroeter, when she first got the call informing her that she had been chosen, she thought it was a joke.
“I love what I do and I don’t put myself on a pedestal,” she shared while acknowledging that now that the fact has sunk in, she feels really honoured to be counted among the 12 outstanding women.
“I guess it shows that all the work that I do is not in vain,” commented the producer.
The climb to the position of Digicel Rising Star producer has been a challenging one, but Sharon will be the first to tell you that she has enjoyed every minute. “I enjoy a challenge,” she said adding that her stint at Television Jamaica has been a real productive one. Being there, she said she took the opportunity to learn about “every aspect of television”.
In her relatively short, but impressive career, Sharon has established herself as versatile producer able to expertly produce both live and recorded programmes in studio and on location. Her wide-ranging skill set is best witnessed as series producer and script writer for Digicel Rising Stars. Inspired by the Ireland-based Pop Stars television show, Digicel Rising Stars is an extensive multi-location live TV production with a large and loyal audience. Recognising her talents, franchise owners tapped Sharonto introduce the series in the Trinidad market.
Sharon started her career, as a junior producer at Television Jamaica (TVJ). TVJ offered Sharon the opportunity to produce several programmes and special projects including the top-rated morning time news magazine programme Smile Jamaica, the popular choir competition All Together Sing, Ms Jamaica World and RJR Sports Foundation Awards.
Outside of TVJ, Sharon has been called on to participate in the production of Magnum Kings and Queens of the Dancehall and Digicel Fame and Fortune.
As the new season of Digicel Rising Stars gets into high gear, Schroeter says she is looking forward to the new challenge of “keeping it all together”.
The proud mother of two adds that her job can be taxing as sometimes it cuts into “quality family time,” but she adds that it’s all about creative juggling in ensuring that her children doesn’t miss out.
Her advice for working moms is simple, “Do the little things with them, make sure they don’t feel left out.”
