Heineken River Sundays ‘mad again’
The first staging of River Sundays, held on Easter Sunday at Grossman River in Brae’s River, St Elizabeth was a hit and the next event, scheduled for first Sunday in May is expected be better that the last, the organisers say.
The event which saw over 2000 patrons turning out, among them several prominent Jamaican artistes, achieved its objective of bringing quality, clean family oriented entertainment to St Elizabeth.
This time around the organisers will attempt to perfect the art of entertainment by bringing in chefs from different parts of western Jamaica, new guest artistes and more attractions for the kids. And now Heineken has come on-board as a partner in the effort.
River Sundays is a free event and all profits gained from the selling of food and drink will be donated to community projects. Delmar ‘Della Danger’ Drummond, CEO of Danger Zone Music Group and organiser of the event is happy that River Sundays got the support of the wider community in Western Jamaica.
He says: “We were pleased with the turnout last month and the way the event progressed. There are several things that we are working on to make this the second staging better and we hope we can accommodate the larger crowds that are expected on that date. We have already made contact with several jerk men, vegetarian specialist and other chefs so that the variety in store will be greater. This staging is made that much more special with our partnership with Heineken.”
River Sundays is a welcome addition to the St Elizabeth entertainment calendar. The event brings well needed economic activity to an area that has been affected by fallout from the closure of the bauxite.
