Campden, Fairburn for Clarendon 40-over final
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Campden and Fairburn are into the final of the Clarendon ’40 for 40′ limited-overs competition following semi-finals wins over Bushy Park and Mineral Heights on Sunday.
At Glenmuir, Fairburn, powered by a big half-century from Gilbert Richards, beat Mineral Heights by 34 runs, while a Krishmar Santokie-inspired Campden registered a 54-run win over Bushy Park.
Invited to bat, Fairburn posted 198 all-out in 20.1 overs with Richards smashing six sixes and nine fours for 89, while Kevin Walters supported with 35.
Max Smith (4-39 from six overs) and Troy Bell (2-24 from three overs) were the chief wicket-takers for Mineral Heights.
Chasing 199 for victory, Mineral fell 35 runs shy as they were bundled out for 164 in 32.2 overs, Paul Manning (4-31), Quacian Ingram (3-37) and Walters (2-41) being the destroyers.
Denroy Hutchinson (28), Andrew Rhoden (16) and Dillon (13) were the only batsmen to offer any resistance.
In the second semi-final, Campden could only manage to tally 180 runs in 39.2 overs with their best batsman, Sherwayne Williams (44), falling six runs short of the half-century mark, but rallied to dismiss Busy Park for a paltry 126 in 32 overs to claim victory.
Santokie’s four wickets for 24 runs in from overs, Hopeton Thompson (3-16) and Hamlet Stewart (3-33), did the trick for Campden.
