Three judges join The Anchor
What does Karen Harriott, Michael Cuff and Ian Andrews have in common? They are the latest additions to The Anchor where they will be the on-camera judges for the rest of the season.
Each brings different strengths to the job, each having performed behind the microphone for most of their lives. While she is better known as an actress, she has been one of the regular adjudicators in the National Speech Competition staged by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission. Few know that Karen Harriott is well on her way to completing her doctorate in Cultural Studies at the University of the West Indies.
Think of radio and Michael Anthony Cuff’s name comes readily to mind. He learnt his broadcasting techniques in Canada before he came home to be the head honcho at KLAS. Since then, he has hosted programmes on television and cable while still firmly grounded in radio.
Being the executive director on Insport is a complex day job that occupies Ian Andrews in a 9-5 day. He still finds time to sing the national anthem whenever the Reggae Boyz perform. He is well suited to be a judge of The Anchor given the fact that he was the main anchor of the sports desk at CVM TV a few years ago.
The judges will not just be looking for great articulation but they will search for the one who has “the look” to master the role of The Anchor. Catch all three of them next Monday on CVM TV at 9pm with a repeat broadcast on Tuesdays at 6:30pm.
