Chilean born flutist and Ukrainian guitarist to perform in Jamaica
An Evening of Classical Elegance hosted by the Friends of the Free Mason under the patronage of Chilean Ambassador, Senor Alfredo Garcia and Senora Garcia will feature the musical mastery of world renowned Chilean born flutist Viviana Guzman.
Described by the New York Times as “an imaginative artiste, this orchestral musician, has played with the Texas Opera Theater Orchestra, Mikhail Baryshnikov’s White Oak Dance Project, and the Broadway musical, Sunset Boulevard with Glenn Close. As a member of the Houston Grand Opera, she accompanied Placido Domingo, and with the New World Symphony in Miami she played under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. A recipient of numerous awards including the Lincoln Center Scholarship, Institute of Hispanic Culture Award, Shepherd Award, Emmanuel Olshan Award, Hirsch Award, Phillips Foundation Award, and the Ruth Burr Award. Guzman has performed over 80 concerts a year throughout the world and has performed in 86 countries.
Alongside her, performing her own magic, will be the talented young classical Ukrainian guitarist and composer, Arina Burcéva who has delighted numerous audiences with her brilliant artistry.
Both musician geniuses expect to delight the audience with their elegant classical and jazzy pieces. The event will be host on Friday May 7, at 7:00 pm at The Courtleigh Corporate Centre, 8 St Lucia Avenue where part proceeds will be in aid of the earthquake relief fund for Chile.
Viviana Guzman will also be hosting a workshop at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing arts on Thursday May 6.
