My Kingston – Marc Harrison
Marc Harrison
Attorney-at-Law and Managing Partner at Harrison & Harrison.
What are your earliest memories of Kingston?
Getting up early and walking to the bus stop at the top of Salisbury Terrace with my parents and being the first to board the JOS bus that would take us down to Wolmer’s Prep. Going to Oopsie Do or Road Runner on a Sunday afternoon to eat ice cream with my family and any neighbours who could fit in the car. The family piling into Daddy’s 1974 VW, driving out to the Harbour View Drive-In from about 5:00 pm to ensure we got a good spot!
What do you miss when you are not in Kingston?
My family.
What are your favourite home comforts?
Relaxing in a comfy chair with my daughter Sage watching her current favourite show Wow Wow Wubzy.
What would you do if you were mayor (of Kingston) for a day?
There is a lot to be done in Kingston, and a day is hardly enough time to scratch the surface. But if I had to choose something to get off the ground it would be an education campaign about the dangers of littering and dumping garbage into gullies. It upsets me to see the state of the harbour and to think that this is the legacy we are leaving for our children and grandchildren.
Share with us the title of the last book you read.
A Course in Miracles, by Dr Helen Schucman.
What’s your middle name?
Stanhope Montgomery
And the last bit of music that stirred your soul?
Rootz Underground’s new Gravity CD, takes me back to the days of real reggae music.
What was your last bit of retail therapy?
A ‘bad’ pair of Aldo shoes.
Which cologne are you currently splashing?
My favourite is Gucci by Gucci but I must confess colognes are my weakness and I have a few.
What is your preferred beverage?
I am excited about the new Red Stripe Bold, but my real drink is Johnnie Walker Black on the rocks.
What upsets you?
Lying. A lack of truth and integrity is a characteristic that is upsetting in individuals, corporations, government or the wider society.

Name your favourite ‘chill’ spots in Jamaica.
HOME – nothing beats a chilly evening on the lawn with family, friends, laughter, food in your belly, a drink in your hand and a big fire to create the ideal “chill spot”.
What’s your advice to a first-time visitor to Kingston?
Visit Sugar and Spice on a Saturday and eat a really great patty, or two! Or if you are feeling adventurous, put it between a round bun and cheese like we used to do at Wolmer’s. Then have a leisurely dinner at Guilt Trip; but make sure to leave space for dessert.
What’s your philosophy?
Love and more love! Anything done from a place of love must be a positive thing, so I try to make all that I do come from that place.
