Windalco, Jamalco on fire in Clarendon Open League
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Super League outfits Windalco and Jamalco were in spanking form in Sunday’s second round of games in the Clarendon Netball Association/Jamalco Open League, as the Winston Nevers-coached teams scored big victories over Foga Road and Humble Lion, respectively, at Mineral Heights.
Windalco, who stopped Slipe PYC 26-15 in their opening game last week, creamed Foga 59-6 to lead Zone Two on six points, three ahead of Ricam (three points) after scoring a league-high 85 goals with 21 against.
In other results from the zone, Slipe PYC rebounded from their first round defeat to beat Ricam 26-20, while Holmwood A opened their account with a nail-biting three-point victory (40-37) over Hayes All-Stars.
Defending champions Jamalco were also in excellent form in Zone One, topping Humble Lion 40-13 for their second consecutive win and are now tied atop the group on six points with Optimist, who beat Denbigh B 22-15.
Glenmuir scored their first win in two tries after condemning Mack Rebuilders to their second consecutive defeat (26-10). Mack Rebuilders and Humble Lion are now languishing at the bottom of the zone with no point from two games.
In Zone Three, Mico tagged Holmwood B 28-14 to stay atop with six points, the same as Denbigh A, who downed Longville Park 30-23, but with a better goal average of 46 to Denbigh A’s 30. In the battle of the cellar teams, Toll Gate whipped Gravel Hill 29-11.
