Fogo stop highflying Tomorrow’s People
FLANKER, St James — Tomorrow’s People’s unbeaten run in the Claro St James Football Association’s Senior League came to an end on Thursday when they were edged 2-1 by Fogo United in a second-round game played at Flanker.
Fogo came from a goal down to avenge a first-round 3-0 beating and moved back into second place on 17 points, three behind Tomorrow’s People, both from nine games.
Two other teams also gained revenge on Thursday as Salt Spring Roses defeated Salt Spring United and Melbourne FC got the better of Granville City by 3-1 margins.
At Flankers, Obrian Street’s 34th-minute goal cancelled out Jermaine Francis’ 29th-minute strike, before Corey Myles struck in the 55th minute to hand Fogo three points.
Also in Zone B at the UDC field, former national player Norman Foster scored twice as Melbourne got their second win of the season, also with a come-from-behind win over Granville City who took the lead in the 20th minute through Kashmar Peterkin.
Foster equalised in the 35th minute before giving Melbourne the lead in the 50th minute, while Trevan Allen’s 56th-minute strike secured the win.
At the Mt Salem field, Anthony Brown scored twice as Salt Spring Roses avenged their first-round 3-0 loss to neighbours Salt Spring United who were bidding to take over the lead in Zone A.
Brown opened the scoring for Roses in the 34th minute, but Patrick Clarke levelled the scores for United in the 43rd minute as the teams were locked at 1-1 at the half-time interval.
Two quick goals in the second half, a minute apart, sealed the deal for Roses. Brown scored his second in the 49th minute and Alrick Williams in the 50th minute.
