Narrow lead for Naggo Head
DEFENDING champions Naggo head hold a narrow lead over rivals St Benedict’s at the end of the third day of the four-day 2010 INSPORTS/Swizzzle Primary Schools Track and Field Championships at the National Stadium yesterday.
Two finals were concluded yesterday to make it a total of four finals with defending champions Naggo Head leading the overall combined point standings with 25 points. They are followed by St Benedict’s with 22 points, Spanish Town 16, St Patrick’s 15 and New Providence 10.
Bridgeport follow with nine, so too Portsmouth and Angels, Morant Bay seven, Ensom City six, St Catherine five, Gregory Park five, Clan Carthy four, Excelsior three, Time and Patience two and St Francis with one point.
One record was broken to make it a total of two records. Yesterday, Jerado James of Naggo Head and Lushane Wilson of Angels both erased the old mark of 1.53 metres set by Akeem Powell of Naggo Head last year (2009) with a new height of 1.55 metres.
Both were tied at the height but James was declared the winner with the least knockdowns. Third went to Roshawne Dawkins of Ensom City with 1.50 metres.
The other record to go yesterday was in the Class One Boys 100 metres semi-final where Raje Fearon of St Francis ran a blistering time of 11.90 seconds to erase the old mark of 12.15 set by Jovan Brown in 2005.
